This School offers a three (3) years Basic General Nursing Training to suitable candidate of not less than 17 and not more than 26 years of age.
Those wishing to apply must have the following requirements:
| 1. Five ordinary level credit passes in SSCE, WASC / NECO OR GCE which should include among others English Language, Mathematics and Three (3) Science Subjects ( Physics, Chemistry & Biology ) at not more than two sittings.
2. Canditates who satisfy the basic entry requirement shall be required to sit for an entrance examination.
The Course is 18 months duration and eligible candidate must be registered Nurses (RN) with the Nurses / Midwifery Council of Nigeria. Additional Diploma, Certifiactes and other relevant courses could be an added advantage.
The Course is a one (1) year duration programme, and candidates wishing to enrol must be qualified Registered Nurses (RN ) with the Nursing / Midwifery Council of Nigeria with at least one year post qualification experience.

The Management of A.B.U. Teaching Hospitals established the school of medical Laboratory Sciences in 1970 for the sole purpose of training Medical Laboratory Assistant, Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Laboratory Scientists.
i.) M.L.A.(Medical Laboratory Assistant Course): This programme (M.L.A.) has been stopped by the Medical Laboratory Sciences Council of Nigeria since 1993 based on the fact that school of Health Technology, Kaduna is also running the programme an d as such, the Council mandated that it should be relinquished to them since it is designed for them.
ii.) M.L.T.(Medical Laboratory Technician Course): This is a 3 years programme, i.e. 6 semesters in duration leading to the award of a certificate candidates wishing to apply must have WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB with four (4) credit passes at not more than 2 sittings to include biology, chemistry, English language plus at least a pass in mathematics within a space of 5 years prior to registration with MLSN (Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria).
Holders of Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) Certificate who, in addition to the requirement above have acquired a minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience would spend two (2) years i.e. 4 semesters only for this course instead of 6 semesters.
iii.) A.M.L.S.C.N.(Associate Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria): This programme has been phased out since year 2007 and as such, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria mandated all schools to stop running AMLSCN ( Associate Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria) programme for graduates who major in Bsc. Microbiology, Bsc, Biochemistry, Bs. Anatomy and Bsc. Physiology.
iv.) F.M.L.S.C.N.(Fellow Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria): This is a year post A.M.L.S.C.N(Associate Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria)/B.M.L.S(Bachelor Medical Laboratory Sciences) course, leading to the award of the fellowship Certificate of the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria. A candidate wishing to apply must have associate Certificate of Medical Laboratory science Council of Nigeria plus a minimum of one (1) year post qualification experience, NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and current practicing licence of Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria.
v.) B.M.L.S.(BACHELOR DEGREE IN MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE: This is a replacement for the 5 years associate ship programme. It is also a five (5) years programme and entrants at ordinary level at not more than two (2) sittings.
This programme has been stopped by NUC who mandated that the programme be relinquished to the university.
Presently, the school only runs the Technician and the fellowship programmes.
